CSK Strategies works with a Network of Consultants, from which we build effective expert Consultancy Teams. They are listed below. Some of the Consultants run their own Companies, while others operate independently, but all of them have an impressive depth and breadth of experience in their field. Fajli Bibi Fajli BibiProject development and implementation | management systems | lifelong learning | family learning | community development | business development With over twelve years of management experience in the public and private sector, Fajli has worked at strategic and grassroots levels. She has piloted and managed many innovative projects, and disseminated and adapted good practice locally regionally, nationally and internationally. Her most recent post was as Partnership Manager (Deputy Director) Black Country Learning and Skills Council where she managed a commissioning budget of over £23m. Prior to that Fajli worked as learning co-ordinator and managed the Tipton Town Learning Team for Sandwell MBC, where she developed and implemented a successful Learning Strategy by working in partnership at strategic and grassroots levels. This involved auditing and reviewing current provision, identifying the learning and skills needs of the community and employers, and commissioning providers to deliver suitable learning opportunities for local people. With a proven track record of managing change, Fajli has built strong teams and partnerships that have achieved success by addressing policies, procedures, funding regimes and restructuring. She has established a number of community organisations and private businesses, building capacity and enabling them to thrive. In 2007 Fajli established her own consultancy business specialising in programme and project management in regeneration, education and Lifelong Learning, family learning, skills for life, adult education, community development and business development. She is an Adviser to Sandwell MBC Education and Lifelong Learning Department where she procured external funds and developed the Sandwell Family Learning Consortium which is made of stakeholders from local, regional, national and international. She is currently working with CSK Strategies on a community consultation project for Birmingham City Council, exploring the economic development opportunities in the A34/A41 corridor. A full CV can be obtained from fajli_bibi@hotmail.co.uk Marilyn BurrillCommunity Development | Voluntary & Community | Adult & Community Education | Neighbourhood Renewal | Social Enterprises Marilyn has been a freelance community development consultant since February 1999, having previously worked in adult and community education for over 20 years. Her experiences have been predominantly with voluntary and community organisations and their involvement with a range of regeneration initiatives. More specifically, this has involved project development , fundraising, project management, training and mentoring of members of these organisations, research into community needs and skills audits, community consultation and action planning and evaluation of local and regional projects. Marilyn is currently working on projects relating to Third Sector development of Social Enterprises, often within the context of Neighbourhood Renewal. Most of Marilyn's work has taken place in multi-ethnic communities in the Midlands , particularly Birmingham and the Black Country . A full CV can be obtained from marilyn@mburrill.co.uk Greg CoxVoluntary |Community Education & Training | Capacity Building | Regeneration Greg specializes in providing effective support to grassroots organisations, having secured funding and other resources for organisations in socially excluded black and minority ethnic communities as well as in disadvantaged white communities. He has extensive experience of capacity building within the voluntary and community sector. He focuses on establishing need, demand and potential added value, and on devising suitable management structures, funding arrangements and implementation mechanisms. He has also applied these skills to work on developing regeneration programmes and evaluations. Greg's background is within further education and training and the voluntary and community sector. He worked for fifteen years in a range of capacities for a large voluntary sector organisation for people with learning difficulties. Since then he has worked as a consultant mainly within the voluntary and community sector, but also with other regeneration stakeholders. A full CV can be obtained from gccltd@yahoo.co.uk Anna Hraboweckyj | Leon QuinnVoluntary, Community & Third Sectors | Equalities & Diversity | Health & Social Care | Organisational Development | Contracting & Social Enterprise | Business Planning Anna and Leon run an independent consultancy operating in the West Midlands and South West. They specialise in assignments that bring the public sector and third sector together in partnerships, consortia or contractual relationships. They are particularly skilled at developing cross sector partnerships and joint strategies, developing third sector infrastructure and third sector investment plans. Arte Research has supported many third sector organisations to tender successfully for public service contracts. Arte has a substantial number of public sector clients including local authorities, primary care trusts and LSCs, as well as clients from the voluntary, community and third sectors. Anna and Leon have experience of working with communities in both urban and rural areas. Anna in particular has a strong reputation in the field of equalities and diversity Anna is an experienced consultant who has worked on a wide range of assignments for both public and third sector clients. Before setting up Arte Research she worked for the Birmingham-based consultancy company, CSR Partnership. Prior to becoming a consultant, Anna was the director of several charitable companies in the West Midlands , including three third sector infrastructure organisations, and held a number of leading positions in the region on behalf of the sector. Leon previously worked for the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning of Bristol City Council, as an independent researcher in Berlin , as well as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University. He has a strong interest in the environment and has worked on a voluntary basis on environmental issues and for charities such as Oxfam. Leon is highly skilled in data and information analysis, and communicates well with people in a range of agencies and sectors. He specialises in interactions designed to develop learning within health and regeneration, and is a Digbeth Trust registered and accredited consultant. Prior to 1990 he worked in the DTI and local authorities in the West Midlands and London . He is skilled in strategic and business planning; programme and project design; organisational review and development. His work in the Creative Industries field has been extensive. For example, he worked with ERM Ltd on Liverpool City Council's European City of Culture 2008 b id, producing a 5 year business plan, and devising a Monitoring Framework for the social and economic impact of the creative and cultural industries in Liverpool . He has particular expertise in new media, having co-ordinated the establishment of Screen Yorkshire and advised several New Media Agencies. In 2005 Steve became a Director of Social Enterprise Europe Ltd, which promotes effective social enterprises in the UK and Europe , developing and utilising accessible and powerful tools including; social licenses, social audit, Project Cycle Management. She has extensive experience in voluntary and public sector management and delivery of services, within the context of tackling inequalities and social exclusion. As Co-Director of the Centre for Health Action Research and Training (CHART) West Midlands (2000-2004), Louise managed an organisation that successfully delivered research, evaluation, consultancy and training to local authorities and other public and voluntary sector agencies, aimed at tackling health inequalities and promoting well being. She also has significant experience in the field of Social Housing, having worked as Head of Community Regeneration for Focus Housing Group, prior to becoming a freelance consultant. Since May 1998, Louise has worked as an independent consultant, delivering training, research and consultancy to a range of public and voluntary sector organisations. She is also a visiting lecturer at Birmingham University , University of Central England and Fircroft College of Adult Education. Louise's key skills include communication, project development and management, partnership development and co-ordination, research and training. He has been active in the Royal Town Planning Institute including seven years as convenor of its national Housing Development and Renewal Panel. He is an acknowledged expert on planning, housing and renewal issues and has been a member of a number of government advisory committees, an expert witness to the House of Commons Select Committee and an advisor on planning and housing to the British Council. He created and chaired a partnership between the RTPI, DETR, Housing Corporation, House Builders Federation and the National Housing Federation to produce a good practice guide on planners and developers working together. This became the RTPI's best selling publication. Throughout his career, Jon has moved between developing and implementing regeneration programmes, and lecturing or producing strategies and policies building on the work he has undertaken. He has often worked closely with government in piloting new approaches and then implemented them throughout his organisation when they have become national policy. Trained as a town planner, he has used this knowledge to develop a wide range of successful regeneration initiatives in some of the most deprived areas of Britain . Many of these have featured in national best practice guides and some have been included in national legislation. Recent consultancy work includes two major pieces of work for the Birmingham Strategic Partnership on sustainable procurement and climate change as well as work on community land trust and evaluation studies. Matthew NodenNeighbourhood Management | Strategy Development | Neighbourhood Renewal | Community Consultation Mat Noden previously worked as a senior consultant for CSR Partnership, and before that as a Research and Development Officer for Lancaster City Council's Neighbourhood Management Round 1 Pathfinder team. He has worked closely with the voluntary, community, and public sector clients on strategy development and around the thematic areas of unemployment, crime, health, youth, housing and education and training issues. His consultancy experience is specialised in the areas of Neighbourhood Renewal, Neighbourhood Management, the voluntary and community sector, youth policy and practice, evaluation, delivery plan development, and qualitative research and community consultation. Until 2005, Matthew worked for CSR Partnership where he played a central role in managing the West Midlands Neighbourhood Management Network and evaluations of Neighbourhood Management pilots and initiatives in both the West Midlands and the North. Since then he has been working independently from his base in the North West . Recent contracts with CSK Strategies have included: quantitative research to underpin the development of a programme of capacity building support and provision for BME organisations to strengthen their capacity to attract resources and deliver services, on behalf of Birmingham Race Action Partnership and Advantage West Midlands; a final evaluation of a SRB6 South Sefton Partnership on business support, employability and community involvement/capacity building; and continuing work to support activities in the Midlands for the National Neighbourhood Management Network. Howard ParkerEducation and Skills | Regeneration | Health and Social Care | Voluntary & Community Howard is a successful consultant, trainer and teacher, specialising in helping individuals and groups in a variety of settings to develop their knowledge and skills. He has extensive and long-standing knowledge of social policy issues, and current government strategies in areas including Education and Skills, Health and Social Care, and Regeneration. Howard has worked extensively with community organisations, and is able to lead and support groups at all stages of the project development process, from initial planning to implementation and evaluation. His work in the NHS has been with Primary Care Trusts, the Health Development Agency and the Healthcare Commission, and has included resolving NHS patient complaints. Conflict resolution and conciliation is a particular skill that Howard brings to a range of consultancy projects. Based in Wolverhampton and Oxford , Howard works on a regional and national basis and has been part of international projects involved in learning and training in Germany and Poland. A full CV can be obtained from howpark@aol.com Rajeev PrakashRegeneration | economic development | business development | programme and project planning Rajeev is an experienced senior manager of regeneration and economic development, having successfully led and managed major capital and revenue programmes. He is highly skilled at establishing and working with new and multi-disciplinary teams to secure rapid customer focus and the rapid delivery of improved performance and measurable results. The breadth of his experience includes Chief Executive posts in New Deal for Communities and Single Regeneration Budget Partnerships, and Senior Management positions in a number of Local Authorities' regeneration, economic development and planning departments. While Head of Economic Development at Bury Metropolitan Borough Council, Rajeev directed all economic and business development activities and budgets, and ensured that the area secured Objective 2 status and Assisted Area Status. He subsequently directed a £152m SRB1 programme in Stoke on Trent and a £200m NDC programme in Wolverhampton where the key issues that were addressed included multi-disciplinary working, partnership building, establishing performance management arrangements, and developing and implementing master plans, delivery plans and action plans. Within the first year of operation, Cobridge Community Renewal in Stoke was recognised as the country's top performing SRB regeneration initiative. Rajeev is now working independently and has recently been working as a principal associate consultant with CSK Strategies. This has involved a major evaluation of a large SRB6 programme in South Sefton ( Bootle ) and a study of developments in procurement and commissioning of public sector services and the opportunities these create for the black and minority ethnic third sector. Current projects include a community consultation project for Birmingham City Council, exploring the economic development opportunities in the A34/A41 corridor. Rajeev can be contacted at rajeev@csk-strategies.co.uk Kram SadiqEconomic Valuation and Apraisal | Regional and Urban Development | Private Sector Development Economic Development Kram Sadiq is an economist with some 18 years' experience of economic development in the UK and overseas and is a director at Manchester Economics Ltd. Previously he was a partner in ERM Economics part of the ERM group where he led the economics team in the North West practice and economic appraisal work. He was involved in a range of economic development projects for NWDA, English Partnerships, the RDAs and private sector clients. Examples include the economic appraisal of Kings Waterfront Arena Liverpool, Daresbury Science Park, Liverpool Lime Street Gateway, Liverpool Cruise Liner Facility and Chatterley Whitfield Colliery Stoke-on-Trent. Recent assignments include acting as a regeneration expert witness at the public inquiry on the redevelopment of New Brighton Waterfront and working with White Young Green examining nuclear decommissioning business development opportunities for West Cumbria. Priory to joining ERM in 2001 he worked for KPMG Consulting where he was a principal consultant in the Strategy and Economics group in London for some six years. Whilst at KPMG he worked on a range of issues for private and public sector clients on the areas of economic policy and private sector development, economic valuation and appraisal, privatisation and restructuring, policy evaluation and economic development in the UK and overseas. Prior to joining KPMG in 1995 he worked for Pieda Plc focusing on UK regional development issues and business development support measures. Over this period he worked on the evaluation of a number of urban regeneration initiatives for central Government and the EU; including Task Force audits, the Interim Evaluation of the East of England CSF programmes 1998-1994, Review of TEC Corporate Plans and various economic studies. In 1989 he was seconded to the Ministry of Planning and Development in Guyana where he worked on macro economic and trade related reform measures as part of the IMF/IBRD economic recovery programme. Prior to this he worked for the Centre for Local Economic Strategies in Manchester , Wolverhampton Metropolitan Borough Council, West Midlands Economic Development Unit.
